FOR INTERNAL ITS PURPOSES ONLY Instructions for installing Condor and CygWin for Windows XP/Vista

Condor - Condor is a specialized workload management system for compute-intensive jobs.

- You need to have admin rights on your computer.

- Download Condor-6.9.5 Software

- Run/Open the condor-6.9.5-winnt50-x86.msi

- Accept the terms of the License Agreement.

- Select Join and existing Pool - - Enter hermes.rit.albany.edu for Hostname of Central Manager

- Configure Execute and Submit Behavior

- Uncheck - Submit jobs to Condor Pool

- When should Condor run jobs? Select - When keyboard has been idle for 15 minutes

- When the machine becomes no longer idle, jobs are suspended. Select - Restart on a different machine.

- Accounting Domain: leave blank

- Hostname of SMTP Server smtp.albany.edu

- Email address of administration ewarnke@albany.edu

- Path to Java Virtual Machine Leave default Java path

- Host Permissions Settings

       Hosts with Read access: *.rit.albany.edu 
       Hosts with Write access: *.rit.albany.edu 
       Hosts with Administrator access:  $(FULL HOSTNAME), hermes.rit.albany.edu 

- Start service = yes

- Setup type = Install

CygWin - CygWin is a Linux-like environment for Windows.

Downlaod CygWin Software, Select Install or update now?

-Select Install from Internet

-You can select all the default options for this software program.
