The mission of Research IT (RIT) is to develop core services in support of research, including high-performance computing for grant seeking and funded researchers. A major objective of Research IT is to provide IT consultation to faculty in the grant development process. The Research group works closely with each of the other ITS units, and with school and departmental-based research IT staff, to fulfill its mission.
Please contact us if you are an active grant-seeking or funded researcher and would like to explore options to fulfill the IT requirements of your investigations.

Managed nodes
Our managed nodes fall into groups. Our largest and most powerful group is the IBM pSeries Cluster with 64 CPU's. We also have a brand new Prometheus Cluster ( was dell cluster ) with 8 CPU's. On top of that we also have a number of miscellaneous Systems that perform a number of services and Managed Research Workstations that are owned by individual researchers.
Dell Rack 8 * The dell cluster is now known as Prometheus Cluster and direct logins to computer nodes is now depreciated. All logins should first login to prometheus.rit.albany.edu and run jobs from that node using the batch system 'see condor'
File Servers We are now operating under our new file servers Clio and Calliope. These two Dell 2800's are redundant and failover to each other in case of scheduled or unscheduled outages. Besides the changes that were effective on 4/12, you will start to see some changes over the next few weeks and months as we transition more of our services to the new redundant servers.
RIT wiki is backed by LDAP. If you have access to RIT resources please login with your netid and password used for accessing RIT servers. If you have trouble, please contact me.
